Description

Using a URL rewrite on a web site's URLs can be a very useful thing for SEO. This is usually a fairly technical task to accomplish although it is becoming easier to accomplish these days with all the new blogging and content management software available for free. Most popular blogs have modules that will automatically rewrite the URL with page title keywords in it. There is no set standard as to what you should have in your URL but you usually want to make it user friendly and relevant.

keyword is "can" be beneficial but not to be confused with higher level site optimization. urls are good for semantics and usability, but they don't equate to an instant-fix or be-all end-all for rankings. your content (as well semantics) and page title matter more than urls, or more specifically the rewriting of urls that have dynamic variables.

if you want to improve your site structurally and more importantly, for your users, then please use url rewriting but not as a fix for ranking better.
